How to publish a mini app to MAX

MAX is a Russian messenger, and an app assembled here opens there from the same document as in Telegram. The difference is how it gets there: MAX has no method for the address, so one step is done by hand.

One app, two platforms

Nothing has to be rebuilt: screens, tables, forms and payments work the same in MAX. A visitor is identified by itself there too — the messenger signs the data about the person, so no password is needed.

There are small platform differences: MAX, for instance, can ask for and confirm a phone number itself. But the project is one, and there is no second version to maintain.

What is done by hand, and why

The app’s address is pasted into the MAX partner cabinet by hand. That is not laziness on our part: MAX has no API method to set the address programmatically, whereas Telegram does — which is why the button there sets itself.

One consequence is worth knowing in advance: moving to a custom domain means changing the address in MAX by hand as well. In Telegram it repoints itself on the next publish.

Who may publish, and how long it takes

Publishing to MAX is open to companies, sole traders and self-employed people resident in Russia. The submission goes through moderation, usually within 48 hours.

While moderation runs the app already works in Telegram and at its own address: there is no need to wait for MAX to start.

Step by step

  1. 1Publish the app and copy its address.
  2. 2Register in the MAX partner cabinet as a company, a sole trader or self-employed.
  3. 3Paste the app address there and submit it for moderation.
  4. 4Wait for the answer — usually within 48 hours.

Other questions

Does the app have to be rebuilt for MAX?
No. It is the same project and the same address; in MAX it is simply entered in the partner cabinet.
Do payments work in MAX?
Yes, through your own merchant account, exactly as in Telegram. The money reaches you directly.
Can a private individual publish to MAX?
No: a company, sole trader or self-employed status and Russian residency are required. That is the platform’s rule, not the builder’s.
